Mary McGregor LCSW
Mary McGregor, LCSW
I have been working in child, family, and individual mental health support programs since 2006. I received specialty training in trauma therapy and brain-based interventions at a post-graduate fellowship at the Virginia Center for Neurofeedback, Attachment, & Trauma. In trauma work, I find that going with clients to the darkest depths of fear is where lies the clarity, love, and hope we are looking for to create change. I have also found somatic-based processing to be incredibly effective at releasing chronic pain & tension. I came into this work because since I was a child, I was a helper. It seems to be my role in this life. I have a huge passion for this work and find great satisfaction out of relationships I have made with clients and colleagues over the years.
I love going to concerts and travel. My creative idol is Bjork because of her originality. I met my husband at an open mic night. I played Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, and Neil Young on guitar & sang - he was smitten. We married a year later. We have been married for 10 years & just welcomed a baby girl in August 2018. I try to live a creative, contemplative, heart-led life.
